Regensburg

Regensburg is a town on the Danube of around 150,000 inhabitants. It is steeped in history and is home to the world's oldest sausage kitchen, dating back to 1135. This is a charming and quaint town with cobbled streets and the stone arch bridge.

We took a guided walking tour through the town centre where we were told of the history of the area, and were shown numerous areas of importance such as the cathedral and town hall. The streets are very narrow in places but open out when you approach the town centre.

this town has some importance for Ann as her Grandmother was from this region, and although Ann had been here before, she had never been in Autumn. The colours of the leaves and trees make for a picturesque landscape.

As someone who has an interest in the art of blacksmithing, a walk through the streets here gets my imagination running and inspired for some serious work on returning to Australia. Sadly though our time here had to come to an end so we could set sail so once we had a famous sausage and sauerkraut we were on our way back to the ship.
