All Aboard

So today is the day we board the Travel Marvel Vega cruise ship. Before we can do that we do a short 1 hour river tour and stop for lunch. The hotel staff once again were very accomodating and organised the boat tour for us as well as our final transfers to the boat. The river cruise was very interesting and talked about the history of the two towns. Yes Budapest is actually two towns, The hilly side is Buda and the flatter side is pest (pronounced pesht) They are joined together by the river much like a lot of our twin towns. The views from the boat were good although the weather didn't help as it rained most of the time on the boat.

After the tour we strolled back toward the hotel and decided to wander down the mall to the square for lunch. A goulash soup and cold meat platter later and we were back at the hotel waiting for our transfer to the ship. We met another couple from Australia also doing the cruise with us but before we could have much of a conversation we were in the car and on our way.

Arriving at the ship and it looked very impressive from the road side, and even more impressive as we entered. With the boarding formalities out of the way we finally got to see our room. We went upmarket this time and booked the owners suite. It is a very well appointed suite and complete with electric sliding windows, a bottle of bubbly and fruit basket for us.

Dinner was next on the list and we finally got to sit down with George and Frances, the couple we met at the hotel for dinner. We had a great night talking about all sorts of things but we were still jet lagged and needed to retire early so we would be good for the tours of the next day.
